Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is an important part of the Study. The assessment covers several key areas, including air quality, water quality, land contamination and marine ecology, etc, targeting to assess the potential environmental impacts induced by the works, propose appropriate protective and mitigation measures.
The EIA of this Study is carried out based on the Study Brief issued by the Environmental Protection Department in accordance with the “Environmental Impact Assessment Ordinance”. The EIA Report of this Study was approved with conditions by the authority on 29 December 2020. More details are available on https://www.epd.gov.hk/eia/english/alpha/aspd_728.html. The area of concern covers a radius of 500m from the Lai Chi Wo Pier, including the Lai Chi Wo Beach Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), with the presence of mangrove and seagrass Zostera japonica, located within the Yan Chau Tong Marine Park and Plover Cove Country Park.
