Tung Ping Chau is the easternmost island in Hong Kong. The coastal marine biodiversity, shale rock and natural landscapes made Tung Ping Chau the Tung Ping Chau Marine Park and the extension of Plover Cove Country Park. Tung Ping Chau was also included in the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark.

The existing landing staircases at Tung Ping Chau Public Pier are too narrow, leading to potential safety concerns to passengers embarking/ disembarking the vessels during holidays or weekends. In order to improve the boarding condition and other facilities of Tung Ping Chau Public Pier, knowing that the improvement works shall avoid impacts on the water quality and environment in Tung Ping Chau Marine Park, we will consult relevant stakeholders to collect views to develop the most appropriate preliminary design.
