The Home Affairs Department discovered cracks at the Lai Chi Wo Pier in July 2022 and partially enclosed the affected area of the Pier. At the request of the Home Affairs Department, the Civil Engineering and Development Department urgently arranged a landing pontoon as a temporary landing facility to ensure that the Kaito service would not be affected. The Civil Engineering and Development Department is carrying out protective measures for the pier to avoid further deterioration of the pier structure. Relevant protective measures are expected to be completed in December 2022.
